The Water Environment Federation (WEF) has selected Boehringer Ingelheim Chemicals, Inc. as its 2011 recipient of the Industrial Water Quality Achievement Award. This award is presented annually to a corporation that best demonstrates significant, lasting, and measurable excellence in water quality improvement, demonstrated through innovative design and operation of an industrial wastewater, pretreatment or source prevention programme.
The Industrial Water Quality Achievement Award is an outstanding accomplishment as BI Chemicals Inc. (BICI) was the only facility in the United States to receive this award. The handover ceremony took place on 18 October during the WEF’s annual technical and exhibition conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center , where Jim Lewis, BICI’s wastewater engineer and longstanding member of the WEF, accepted the recognition on behalf of BICI.
The WEF is an international organization of engineers, scientists and industry leaders dedicated to the advancement of technology for water and wastewater treatment, as well as water reuse. The WEF network was founded in 1928 and includes water quality professionals from 76 member associations in 30 countries.
