The Boehringer Ingelheim European Forum -
the European works council
| In 1996, Boehringer Ingelheim started a
Europewide initiative called the Boehringer Ingelheim European
Forum. Boehringer Ingelheim employer and employee
representatives from European
member countries deal on a regular basis with general
issues of transnational character.
The Boehringer Ingelheim European
Forum - its purpose
|
 |
 |
The purpose of the European Forum is to provide
information and consultation for all employees working for
Boehringer Ingelheim subsidiaries in Europe.
The aim is to achieve this by constructive dialogue between
employers and employees. |
|
The Boehringer Ingelheim European
Forum - the initial phase
|
 |
|
The idea was originally initiated by Corporate
Headquarters. The impetus for it was provided by the
guidelines EU 94/95 published by the European Commission in
September 1996.
Boehringer Ingelheim employer and employee representatives
from five |
European countries formed a negotiating
committee. The last negotiation in June 1996 with all member
countries resulted in the signing of an agreement regarding
the Boehringer Ingelheim European Forum.
The agreement became effective on 25 June 1996 and is valid
for a period of five years. After this it is automatically
extended for successive 2-year terms, unless written notice of
termination is given by either party 12 months prior to the
end of the initial term of any renewal term.
