With the Production Alliance Network, Boehringer Ingelheim complements its worldwide strategic manufacturing capabilities with strong partners for process development and clinical material supply. The process know-how provided to our partners allows state of the art and time to clinic development as well as smooth technology transfer to our commercial manufacturing capabilities.
Strategic alliances
Boehringer Ingelheim has established global production alliances with dedicated process development and manufacturing companies. This concept ensures high flexibility, short timelines and available capacity resulting in a great benefit for our customers. Very often, the burden of investment and the complexity in developing and manufacturing can be prohibitive - especially considering the risk of failure at the clinical trial stage.
Within the global Production Alliance Network we provide access to our franchise proprietary platform technologies to medium-sized contract manufacturing organizations.
Our clients have access to the high expression system (BI HEX®) and a preferred access to our large-scale commercial manufacturing capacities through the local contract manufacturing partners. This attractive business concept uses the Boehringer Ingelheim intellectual property for economic and robust manufacturing of high quality/innovative biopharmaceuticals.
Compatible alliance partners
The Production Alliance partners are located in biotech clusters around the world, close to our customers in many aspects (see map above). Included companies have been evaluated to fulfil important criteria:
- They offer compatible manufacturing technologies to the Boehringer Ingelheim pilot plant and commercial manufacturing
- They have the capacities and the capabilities to produce preclinical and clinical material including Phase II in a time to clinic approach under cGMP conditions.
- They have to be approved by the local authorities and have to be approvable by the EMEA and FDA.
