Our Process Equipment

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma Chemical production sites feature high quality equipment. Our facilities include numerous production, pilot plants and state-of-the-art laboratories. Key technologies include highly-effective ring-closing metathesis, asymmetric hydrogenation with proprietary catalytic systems, chiral enzymatic processing, carbohydrate chemistry as well as Robinson-Schoepf condensation.

Organic synthesis facilities are located at four separate plants. From hammer mills and screw-mixers for preparation of herbal raw material to distillation plants for recovering extraction solvents, our phytochemicals facilities include all appliances necessary to process natural raw material.

Boehringer Ingelheim manufacturing facilities in Petersburg, Virginia , include a multi-purpose batch organic chemical production plant and a hydrogenation plant. Schedule II controlled substances are produced in a DEA-approved specialty production facility. Our US site is one of only a handful of facilities worldwide with the ability to process high-potency compounds. It consists of a kilo laboratory and a pilot plant/launch facility designed to carry product opportunities from bench scale through pilot plant to commercial manufacture, operating more than 300 days per year
