What is the Viramune MTCT Donation Programme?

Boehringer Ingelheim provides the anti-retroviral Viramune (nevirapine) free-of-charge to developing countries for use in the prevention of mother-to-child-transmission of HIV-1. 

The Viramune MTCT Donation Programme has run since 2000.
The company currently donates the programme to some 156 programmes The company is currently donating the product to 59 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

In total of almost one million mother-and-child pair doses have been supplied free of charge.
