The Boehringer Ingelheim FENS Research Award for neuroscience research

The Boehringer Ingelheim FENS Research Award recognises young European scientists for outstanding research in the field of neurosciences. The prize is awarded by the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) and sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim. In endowing this award, Boehringer Ingelheim demonstrates its commitment to basic research in the area of neuroscience as a prerequisite for progress in efforts to discover new treatment options for patients suffering from devastating diseases of the nervous system.

The Boehringer Ingelheim FENS Research Award 2008 was announced during the 6th Forum of European Neuroscience in Geneva on 15 July 2008.

How to apply

Authors of innovative scientific work in all areas of neuroscience research are invited to apply for the Boehringer Ingelheim FENS Research Award.

Applications can be submitted by the candidate himself/herself, or candidates can be proposed. The candidate must be under 40 years of age and be either working in an European Institute or of European origin working abroad.

The requirements for all applications - online - are:

  • Short curriculum vitae
  • List of publications
  • Short summary of the main research topic documented by key publications (1 page maximum)
  • Short outline of the research project for which the prize money is intended (1 page maximum)
  • Two letters of recommendation from key scientists in the field
