The prize

The prize is named after Professor Heinrich Wieland (1877 - 1957), a Nobel Prize Laureate in chemistry in 1927 and leading lipid chemist during the first half of the 20th century.

It also reflects the special relationship with Heinrich Wieland who was involved in the initial steps in Boehringer Ingelheim's pharmaceutical research.
