We care... |

for our society

Some 16,000 of Papua New Guinea's 5.3 million inhabitants are infected with HIV and the infection rate is 1,000 per year. Very few infected people go to health care centres so the figures are likely to be vastly underestimated. Together with other pharmaceutical companies, the Catholic Aids Office, the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM) and the government of Papua New Guinea (PNG), Boehringer Ingelheim has designed and implemented a project in 2006 and 2007 to train healthcare workers under the auspices of the Collaboration for Health in Papua New Guinea.

for our neighbours

In 2006, Boehringer Ingelheim Australia participated in the Collaboration for Health in Papua New Guinea Project and in the design and implementation of a pilot scheme to train healthcare workers in the treatment of people affected by HIV/AIDS.
Our Australian operation donated funds to the Innisfail Hospital after the area was struck by Cyclone Harry. |
